Gloria Mopotu is an energetic and ambitious businesswoman passionate about business and project development. She is currently the Director of Jemeglo Investments, a family-owned project investment firm specialising in African developments, business consulting, technology and innovation, and logistics.
Founded by her father, Jean Mopotu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jemeglo Investments exists to cultivate and materialise Africa’s economic and social transformation.
As Director, Gloria is instrumental in building the company culture, overseeing managers, and enabling teams to grow and develop within their projects. Her portfolio comprises projects in the marketing, logistics, medical insurance, and financial industries, and she is currently establishing her own “event space for hire” business in Lusaka, Zambia.
She is currently the Vice President of Second Mile Club. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Hong Kong, a BA degree in International Relations from the University of Witwatersrand, a BA(Hons) from the University of South Africa (UNISA), and a certificate in Development Management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
Before transitioning into the corporate landscape, Gloria was a journalist at Impacta Lab for four years. As Lead Writer and Marketing Assistant, she developed marketing and communication strategies for the company’s website and social media platforms. She also did tech news reporting, representing tech founders and their start-up businesses, which introduced her to entrepreneurship and allowed her to develop her business acumen.
Gloria is passionate about children’s education and women’s rights. She volunteers as a Communication Officer for three NGOs founded by her mentor. Her goal is to get more involved in the planning, strategising, and risk mitigation of initiatives that empower children to receive high-quality education.
