Michael du Plooy is a seasoned C-suite professional with a wealth of experience across various industries, including financial services, property, marketing, and fintech. With over two decades of expertise, Michael has a track record of success that is hard to match.
Starting his career as a stockbroker and research analyst at PSG Wealth, Michael quickly developed a passion for helping SMEs succeed. His experience analyzing listed businesses showed him that the underserved SME market held tremendous potential, and he co-founded Cash Flow Capital to provide alternative capital to these businesses. Under Michael’s leadership, Cash Flow Capital grew to become one of the largest alternative capital providers to SMEs in South Africa. In 2019, Cash Flow Capital became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Preference Capital group, a SME finance and financial services business which is a member of the Old Mutual group. Michael is currently the COO of the Preference Capital Group.
Michael’s dedication to helping SMEs succeed extends beyond his business ventures. He has contributed extensively to articles in reputable publications such as BusinessDay, MoneyWeb, Fin24, and Business Insider, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with the wider business community. He has also appeared on several television and radio programs, providing insightful contributions on SME business segments. Michael is a director and former chairman of SASFA, an organization dedicated to promoting fair and equitable lending practices to SMEs in South Africa.
With a graduate degree in Investment Management from the University of Pretoria, an Honours degree in Financial Management, and a CFA charter under his belt, Michael is a true expert in his field. His track record of success, dedication to helping SMEs thrive, and expertise make him an invaluable asset to any organization.
